This religious education program is for parish children in grades 1-8 who attend public and non-Catholic private schools. Classes meet weekly on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 pm to 7:45 pm during the school year. The catechist teachers are parishioners, enjoy working with children, and wish to share their faith with them. Sacramental preparation and annual family liturgies complement the classroom work.
Families are encouraged to attend Sunday Mass with their children, as the Wednesday PSR evenings often include discussion with the children about the meaning of the Gospels at Mass. Children want to learn how to participate in Mass and they do this best by watching their parents and others in the Church community on Sundays. Much of what they learn in PSR is centered around the Liturgy since the Eucharist is central to our relationship with Jesus and living our faith in daily life. Parents are the first and best educators of their children and the PSR Ministry is here to support you in your mission of sharing your Catholic faith with them.
PSR is sensitive to working towards a positive experience for children with special needs. For more information, contact Ann Kelly.
